Business Angel activities

Articled to Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co (now KPMG), London, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1972 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute in 1975.


My experience includes:

trade credit insurance broking (Park Corporate Ltd) from July 1997 to 2004);
insurance underwriting of corporate insolvency risk, (Director and founding shareholder of AMA Underwriting Agencies Ltd from 1986 to 1992);
corporate financial advice, capital markets, foreign exchange and treasury management, tax based leasing (Hambros Bank Ltd, London from 1980 to 1986);
insurance company financial control, fx and money market dealing, equipment leasing (Jardine, Matheson & Co Ltd, Hong Kong from 1974 to 1980).

Miles Robinson & Co was established as a corporate finance & management consultancy in May 1993 providing financial advice to growing private companies and acting as private investor in some. In April 2003 commenced practice as a Chartered Accountant providing commercially based financial, tax & accounting advice to the same clientele.

Mentoring activities

In late 2002 joined The Princes Trust as a Business Mentor.
In September 2003 joined Mentors by Net.
In October 2004 joined the Merlin Mentoring Project, which provides mentoring for entrepreneurs & SMEs within the knowledge/technology based sectors and is sponsored by SEEDA and the European Social Fund.


Aged 60, MR is married with three grown up children. He has lived at Burwash, East Sussex since 1980. Hobbies include country pursuits, day boat sailing, classic cars and stock market investment.
